Welcome to ABL's 1st virtual convention! Thanks for joining us and we hope that you enjoy a day filled with educational and fun resources.

9:15 am – 9:30 am: Planning for a Successful Day – Chyvonne Blanchard and Clair Amy, State Office Team

Woohoo! Time to review Zoom tips and tricks along with an agenda overview.

9:30 am – 10:15 pm: ABL Busy Bees – Kelly Malloy, Dale Carnegie

Keeping ABL STRONG means staying busy and motivated! Waking up with a smile, setting goals, and being accountable. Challenge yourself to be an ABL Busy Bee!

10:15 am – 11:00 am: Break-out Sessions – Your Choice!

Live and Learn – Talking Books and Braille Library/Hadley School for the Blind

Meet staff from the Louisiana State Library and Hadley School for the Blind. Challenge yourself to read a new book, learn a new language or discover lots of new services provided by these fantastic programs.

Skiing is Believing – Ski for Light

Have you ever wanted to try out snow skiing? This program invites you to take on the challenge and join others who are visually impaired and/or physically disabled in taking on the slopes! Learn about an upcoming virtual meeting that you can join to meet others who have benefited from this program.

Staying Connected – HandiHam

Meet Lucinda, AB8WF who is a ham radio operator. Explore this hobby of amateur radio and find out why so many visually impaired and blind individuals are successful ham radio operators!

11:00 am – 11:45 am: Break-Out Sessions – Your Choice!

· Phone Fun! – NFB/Christian Record

Meet staff from two programs that are accessible by phone. Reading newspapers from all around our country and joining in on Christian gatherings will keep you informed and entertained every day.

· The Lavender Experience – Rebecca Reed, Young Living

Soothe your soul with the aroma of lavender… Take some time to learn about essential oils. Each participant will be added into a drawing for a Young Living Oil package.

· Blind Fold Games – Marty Scholtz, Objective Ed

Can someone who is blind play games on their smart phone or tablet? Yes! Don't miss this opportunity to learn about games that can help all ages to learn and have fun doing it! Each participant will be entered in a drawing for an iTunes gift card.

3:00 pm – 3:20 pm: How Can Louisiana Rehabilitation Services Help Me? – Louisiana Work Force Commission’s Kevin Monk, Director of Blind Services

Louisiana Rehabilitation Services can help you become employed! Many visually impaired, blind, and Deaf-blind individuals receive training and job placement through LRS services. Get an idea of how this agency assists ABL in our mission.

3:20 pm – 4:00 pm: Visit the ABL Training Center – Training Center Staff and Clients

Get a glimpse of the ABL Training Center, meet staff and clients while they introduce you to each classroom and grant program.

4:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Deaf-Blind Success Stories – Helen Keller /I Can Connect

ABL is very proud of their work with the Deaf-blind of Louisiana! Meet a representative from Helen Keller National Center and discover the I Can Connect program enhancing Deaf-blind communication.

5:00 pm: Door Prizes and Discussion – Chyvonne Blanchard and Clair Amy, State Office Team
